Nearly completed + life by the seasons

The Red Dress is nearly done! *squee* Only 1 foot of hemming to go, and a few hours for finishing off the chemise. It's been ages (like 1.5 years) since I've made myself anything new. Mostly I've been making for the girls and the man, so it'll be nice to have something new for me ( Read more... )

Sounds like a fabulous life!

And Sydney Winter isn't nearly as cold as Ballarat winter, red dress for Crown perhaps? I must call you guys, I'm totally taking Friday off to hang out. Will try and call sometime, Sat night perhaps.

Yup, Red dress is for crown. Well, it's third deadline I've used for this frock, but I've finally got there!

We are home Sat night so feel free to call if you've got time. So look forward to seeing you!

I envy your life tied to the seasons... and I know one day I will get it, my path doesn't lie there just yet...

I do know that once we have the backyard fenced and I can put in a real garden my sense of connectedness to the Mother will return...

gardens in pots just don't quite do it....

and any job that pays you to sit and sew is a good one! so we can expect all your great outfits this time of year then? ;)

Last year I couched 60 or so white silk goutys onto a blue wool tabard. Which doesn't sound too fancy, but I don't really *do* embroidery, so it was a bit of an effort for me.

It does tend to weird out my co-workers though.

If only I could take my floor loom with me I'd be in heaven!

My most recent trips into the city at night tell that Yes, blue lipped and shivering is the new black. Tres sexy indeed.

*chuckle* Aha, just like all those skinny barely-past-teenage chicks I see tettering about in heels and not much else around the 'Rat on a Saturday night.

When it's 8 degrees.

*shiver*

Disregard.

I saw your next post. Great spot! My Aunt had a place up that way and I spent a great deal of my childhood out there. It's part of the inspiration for my own tree-change.

I feel your pain re: the dreaded turn to feed the animals. This morning it was mine. There I am mucking out the duck's water bowls, counting the japanese quail, zebra finches and guinea fowl, chickens and peacocks, alpacas, horses and other sundry furry and feathered animals to make sure they made it through another freezing night, whilst all the other humans are blissfully sleeping in... That's why we'be bought the quarter acre in town. A couple of chooks, a dog and the aviary is sufficient for me now. Definitely NOT a morning person...

I don't mind feeding the animals, I quite enjoy it really. I just don't enjoy being out in the cold.

And I am totally not a morning person either. Generally I don't do the morning feeds, I have a Husband to do that for me. :)

A quater acre is just perfect. Enough room to have space to move, a garden, vegies and a few animals, without the responsibility that comes with having more land that then requires stock to graze it or equiptment to work a crop.

Sometimes I look a bit longingly at those nice smaller blocks... but then I couldn't have the ponies, which I adore.

Yeah, I'm totally with you on all points. I love feeding the animals and take a lot longer to do it than the others coz I like to watch them interact and see what the pecking order is and just check out what's happening in their world but I hate being tired when I do it. We only have one feeding time and that's the morning ( ... )

Waaaaah! I want goats too. *sob*, and ponies!

At least we've got our 4 chookies on our quarter acre. Parramatta council requires one to have 1500 square metres of land before one can put goat(s) on it, which is half again as big.

Need a teleporter so I can live in the country and work in the 'burbs.
