A brief thought--people like to compare the present generation in Harry Potter with the past one (the Mauraders, etc). Neville is often compared to Peter Pettigrew, at least in situation (though I think he's also a contrast because his choices are opposite, similar to the way Harry's are different from Voldemort's). That's sad...I like to think that he's still a Weasley, and so will be reconciled with the family eventually (that is, book seven, even if it's a death scene and he's still a little pompous about it).

I'd prefer that he be a Weasley through-and-through, but I think Rowling is too cynical for that.
