I've been doing a whole lot of nothing this past hour at work. I'm waiting for 1 p.m. to roll around so I can go cover a press conference at the Supreme Court. It's going to be outside and I'm not looking forward to standing in the heat.

Mitchell and the family are coming to visit me in DC next week, which I'm very excited about. I miss everyone, ( Read more... )

My current roommate is an intern at the National Weather Service in New Braunfels, and he's from Boston. He said he cannot get used to people at HEB saying hi or strangers making small talk.

It's such a strange and sad way of life, to be so cold. He said that's what I'll notice right away if I do happen to go to Yale or RISD for grad school.

Word, you will. Even when I hold open doors, some people don't even utter a thanks or a smile. At the building I work at, there is a receptionist and I always smile or say good morning, but barely get a response. I just gave up. I don't like it. It makes me feel like I'm being rude.

I believe this whole thing falls under the southern hospitality section. After all they are Yankees, according to Anthony the Stock manager at the GAP.
