watch and wait and pray for the day

Well, Taffy called me a little while ago, and apparently the high school Prom was the type of disaster you might expect from a Sunnydale prom. She sounded tired and on the verge of upset, so I just got the highlights, but it seemed to involve demons, a werewolf... and Stefan trying to pick up a high school girl. Tsk. "I'm fine," I say, leaning my elbows on the bar and looking her over. She does look exhausted. "Business as usual around here, you know. Well, except for the Grak demon that pulled all the leaves off of the ficus in the corner and ate them before I could run him out of here." I gesture at the poor denuded plant. I sip from my glass, then say, "I wonder why he can see her but nobody else can? Is he one of those 'I see dead people' types? And did he say why he -- well, they-- were in your apartment?"

I'm just full of questions today, aren't I?

I'm not sure if this is going to be any help, but I figure I'll say it anyway. "At least school's out for summer. If everyone can just make it through Graduation, then perhaps we could come up with something during the break." I can hope, can't I?

"Sounds a lot better than last year's summer project," I say, hoping to coax a more genuine smile out of her. "Which was getting rescued from the past. Hey, you were there for that one, too!"
