have you done any coursework on qualitative research? it's good because you learn about interview techniques and coding of transcripts for analysis...

i took it for my program last year and i loved the course. it was really interesting and it really complemented the stuff i was doing at my job.

actually i took a class last semester at GW called Research Methods in Anthropology and we went over alot of stuff like that. Probably not as in depth as at MA level but I got a general idea and some good books. Also, I avoided taking some other quantitative research methods class that sounded horrible that Elliot School forced people to do.In any case, thanks for the advice and I will keep in mind..kit kats arrive yet?

Actually the Amish ARE fascinating. The fact they can maintain a lifestyle they have done for so many years while the world around them moves forward and yet have maintained balance in their life with out the outside world effecting them is quire remarkable.

watch the documentary ' The Devil's Playground' It is about Amish youth during their free period known as Rumspringa...it is the best documentary ever made! really really interesting, indeed.
