i will buy prints and shirts all day long for musicians i love. i go out a lot, especially to support djs and producers who bring joy to my life.
i think if you are making money off of something you should probably show some appreciation for the tools that you used to prosper. i generally look for balance in bootlegging shit. for example: if i didn't bootleg photoshop 3.0 in the 90s as a teenager i would not be able to use the adobe products my university and post-grad employers have licensed over the past decade. i've made enough money off of freelance lately that i am considering buying my own license out of respect for the company and its innovations.
i don't really know how i can justify bootlegging movies and television though. hmmm. maybe if they made a system like beatport or if television was a la carte i would be much more comfortable using it, but they can fuck off if you think i'm going to pay 60 USD a month to watch television when i can pay $8 to rapidshare.com and download whatever i want whenever i want.
