I pretty much only project while I'm sleeping but it only happens directly after a lucid dream usually. In my experience it's not incredibly easy for me to fly while lucid, but I can do a lot of other things with ease like making doors around the next corner to get me out of a bad area or making objects float around. One of my favorite things to do while lucid is to ask my dream people about their existence...that always gives me a kick. Actually, if I start to wonder if I'm dreaming I'll sometimes become completely lucid after shouting out to the sky or asking my dream characters if I'm dreaming. Have you ever seen the movie Waking Life?
It's a good movie, mostly a hodgepodge of philosphy and the like. The main character is caught in a perpetual state of dreaming and eventually becomes lucid, it's really interesting.
But yes, there are other signs as well to tip you off to the fact that you are dreaming...it's just a matter of being able to recognize them while dreaming.
Light shades are one (talked about in Waking Life). If you flip a light switch or some such the brightness of light won't change. In other words, light switches have no effect.
Also, clocks are a big tip off exactly like you experienced. Clocks aren't consistent. One minute it'll be 1:16am, the next 11:04pm. Clocks sometimes will scramble too.
One more big tip off off the top of my head is books. Usually in a dream books will be nonsense or scrambled. If I pick up a book in a dream I won't be able to make sense of it and I'll concequently become lucid.
*grr movie movie, sorry about the typo before. Thanks for all that. I guess because I am blind, I rarely will turn a light switch on anyway which means I am unfortunately unlikely to do it in dreams which is a shame! so I only really have a clock thing to go by but as I say I'm trying to make a point of now practicing my technique. Next time, I won't jump but instead try walking somewhere. I will have to try and get a hold of that movie it sounds cool! thanks for well wishes! Cheers! :)
In regards to projecting....sylvantideOctober 12 2006, 06:25:25 UTC
From the sounds of it you just tried a little too hard. When it happens next, try pushing outwards, instead of jumping. Start off with a gentle pressure outwards but steadily increase it.
You can also try to visualize yourself as a ball of energy in that situation and project yourself into the ball.
I have always had a hard time personally with that method. I can't seem to quite "waken" and be projecting. I either go too far and wake up entirely or I can only achieve a mild conscious knowledge that I'm dreaming.
yeh well I am still trying to figure out the best way to astral. I have a feeling I'll definitely preferr consciously whenever I can achieve that. :) yes will definitely keep you's posted with my progress in all this. :)
