In which Clare talks about writing - day twenty five

Sep 06, 2011 11:16

Ok, so Sharon Raydor and Gavin Whatshisname are totally BFFs. Sharon smirking at all Gavin's jokes was cute, and that shot of the two of them in the murder room, eating whatever those strawberry liquorice things were, tilting their heads in sync was adorable. I hope I'm right, and they keep Gavin around occasionally for Major Crimes. They could be ( Read more... )

Yes, do a fic playlist! That would be really interesting. :)

I always have to listen to a song while I'm writing... and it needs to be the same song in a loop. So on my iTunes the most-played songs are songs I've written fic to. I's really interesting to see what was played 200 times. I don't even really hear the lyrics after awhile, but something about the continuous loop keeps me going, like running.

Usually when I need to write something, I will suddenly hear the right song for my story, and then I will be able to write. I finally found the song for my ship swap and wrote a couple thousand words on the story this weekend.

It would be made up of large amounts of Snow Patrol and Vienna Teng and One Republic, because that's pretty much all that seems to get played on my iPod at the moment. Which actually means my taste in music has improved, which is good.

Wow, that's really interesting about the story song. Dare I ask what song fits Bill/Laura/Ellen?

(And yay about your ship-swap! I'm so going to need an extension on mine. I'm not kidding, I can't write words at the moment. Not coherent ones anyhow)

Oh, I may get it done by the deadline... it's looking like it's going to be very long though. But extensions... hmmm. Will ponder. Sometimes I do best when I have a deadline.

I hope your muse cooperates soon! Very frustrating when they don't. :)

I love all three of those artists. The song right now is Uprising by Muse (Muse always has such BSG-y songs!) but One Republic has definitely been an artist of choice on other fic I've written. Secrets, I think, was one in particular.

Ooo, even better! :)

The dumb thing is that I know exactly what I want to write for my A/R thing at least. It just won't form into words. I might steal your song trick and see if that works. Dark Roman Wine might work.

I listen the soundtrack everyday

I did this for a very long time and only recently got out of the habit of listening. I think Bear McCreary's music will be the stuff my children remember from their early childhoods. :) I got to meet him once and told him that, too. :)

If I ever have kids, they'll be listening to Bear McCreary in the womb.

They're Twizzlers! and they are awesome! :)

Aha! Now I know. I don't think they sell 'em over here. Not under that name anyhow.

Sharon sitting in the murder room with a Twizzler hanging out of her mouth trying to look deadly serious is an image that I must iconise.

It depends for me. If I'm listening to music, it's because I'm trying to block other noise out. I often seem to be trying to write in public (mostly at one of two libraries, occasionally at Starbucks). It's usually instrumental stuff (BSG soundtracks, Mozart, Beethoven) but not always.

I struggle to write in public. I'm always convinced someone is leaning over my shoulder, reading all the random crap that I write whilst I'm trying to turn it into something coherent. I used to take my laptop with me on the commute to work and try to write on the train, but I got too paranoid and stopped!
