It’s the software, stupid.

What galls me so much about Steve Jobs declaring jihad on Adobe is that it shows that he’s lost perspective on what makes a personal computer an important tool in a person’s life. Oh I know. I believe that a very large number of Apple computers are purchased for the sole purpose of running the Adobe creative programs (like mine).

As you know from previous interactions, I'm fond of OSX and my Macs, though not to the point of dogma. I tend to run my machines well past their use-by dates, so I'll be using these (vintage 2007) for another three or five years minimum.

That said, if I can't get CS[x] on the replacements when I finally give up on these, the replacements would be useless to me.

Given my timeline it's easy for me to take a wait and see attitude, so I have. This does not, however, bode well at all.
