Say what you will about how annoying people are that hold up their phones or text their friends at concerts but I'm glad that one my friends is one of those people. my friend tim called me last night from a hold steady show in chicago. i was more pissed off than anything, considering i could have easily gone. but cheap wine and battlestar galactica was a good plan b.

yes, as a matter of fact I have. I really liked it but my friend, coincidentally the one at SXSW, didn't like it at all.
What did you think of it?

I thought it was really good, though horribly horribly depressing.
I knew Daniel Johnston had mental problems and such before I saw it, but I had no idea how bad. And at the end when he saw the girl [forget her name] for the first time in all of those years...oh man.
The whole film had almost an eerie, somber undertone as he was just going more and more to the deep end, yet was able to celebrate his art and his accomplishments at the same time.
