Field Trip to Arran June 2007

My Geological pictures from our field trip to Arran. Arran is an island off the west coast of Scotland and has some really interesting geology. It's often called "Scotland in Minature". The Highland Boundary Fault crosses it and the island to the north has mountains with a softer landscape to the south. For more information: Read more... )

Your field trips look a lot more fun than ours. We just have sedimentary formations, you have dykes, sills and fossil footprints. :( These photos are amazing and I adore the pebbles. I'm rubbish at IDing rocks from pebbles.

"Unhappy silica rich crystals" must remember that phrase for future TMAs! ;)

Of course, you are official photographer for SS now - two weeks today! :D
