Sometimes I wonder if I should go back to journaling my day to day activities - things that make me happy, annoyed, contemplative etc. It's fascinating to read my old entries, no matter how trivial or silly, and derive some kind of nostalgic, voyeuristic joy from them ( Read more... )

hey there! it's so good to see you posting :)

I totally know what you mean about wanting to write only for yourself. I used to journal everyday on paper...and as I moved to Livejournal, the act of that became different. You can just say so much more when no one else is reading. I say I'd go back to journaling on paper, but nowadays I never seem to have the time.

It's really good reading your posts though :)

Yeah, I kept a physical journal for a few years before I discovered LJ. At the time it was in its infancy and no one I knew read or used the site. Eventually its popularity grew amongst my peers, and before you know it I had to start locking and self-censoring posts for privacy and such. At one point, LJ became almost like a popularity contest and forum for bitchiness amongst some groups of friends, which is kinda silly if you ask me.

Anyways, I'm glad most people I know don't use LJ anymore, and perhaps it's time I resumed documenting my candid thoughts, and an occasional naughty story or two haha!
