Fic a day - Admiration

Second day - KaitoLen

(Yes, 1am the next day counts as the same day.)

IT'S SO POINTLESS, IT MAKES NO SENSE

Forgive me orz

Despite the fact it was never in an overly spectacular venue or the crowds were never too bountiful, Len just doted upon the opportunity to perform. Never could anything fill him with such elation as that he felt up on the raised platform, blaring his vocals into the provided microphone and tapping away at his keytar.

It wasn't difficult to see why the aspiring singer loved the stage so much - it seemed to love him back. Every one of his flowing motions, jiving to the beat of his own music, were accentuated by the bright lights, hitting a perfect side of his young body no matter where they were placed. His youthful, tenor voice reverberated through the microphone and out of each speaker with an unworldly force; it was a phenomenon. This kid was a prodigy.

A royal blue fingernail tapped the blond's photo with a displeased hum. So overlooked... Its owner thought wistfully, head slowly shaking at the matter. It was a great annoyance to hear one so talented and find their talent shunned by the outside world.

"Can I get you anything, Kaito?" Was spoken toward him with a chirp, the awaiting waitress smiling as his head gradually lifted, matching her expression.

"Just an ice lolly, if you have any. Blue raspberry."

A giggle. "Of course~"

Kaito settled in the corner seat gracing the room's very back with a sly smile. The bar's manager had just been on stage to announce the kid's arrival to their humble doors, false enthusiasm blatant in his tone. The blonde seemed to pout at it for the slightest of seconds, unnoticed by all - apart from him.

Despite the slightly negative entrance, Len walked on stage with a skip in his step and an adorable beam on his rounded face. The bluenette couldn't help but coo lightly at this - the kid had heart and bravery worthy of lions.

"... He's cute." The waitress whispered briefly, allowing her patron to hear the boy's talking. She had promptly returned with the requested treat, handing the ice's stick over in a swift motion. "Heard of him before?"

"Mm..." Kaito's tongue flicked out to lick at his lower lip before sucking on the treat's tip with an enchanted expression. "You should hear his voice."

"Really?"

"Yeah... It's like a Roman coin... Hard to spot but once you have dug it up, you can never let it go."

Convincing the opposite of that had been wishful thinking on his part. The first time he'd ever seen Len perform... He was left speechless. The boy's adorable face, that lithe body... He couldn't help but wonder how that prize-worthy voice would sound mingled with his own - whether engaged in song or something else.

"-- And so... Here I am. My first song is going to be something a little slow, so..." The performer released a low, breathy laugh, beaming again with a nod. "Please, bear with me."

The keytar's strap on his shoulder was shifted slightly to allow him a more comfortable position for playing, calm expression over his face.

The backing track of assertive drums stirred up immediately, Len's head nodding along to every fourth beat. After a few seconds of introduction, the blonde rose into action, fingers dancing over the improvised instrument, creating a flowing piano melody.

There came another item for Kaito to admire. Playing an intricate rhythm and singing at once was not the easiest task.

The performer leans forwards, to the microphone, and hummed into its circumference, cooing words to the bridge before finally breaking into song.

Kaito's lips dipped beneath his sky blue scarf, nuzzling the material and releasing a hefty sigh. Never mind the amount of times he'd listened to this boy's voice - the initial shock of it always affected him. Always.

Such power, hidden power, underlined each note, setting the song off perfectly. His canary-tipped fingers never faltered from the blues, bringing the song to its climax with such precision, it had to be impossible at such an age.

Yellow on blues. Yes... They fit like a jigsaw.

Both the drums and Len came to a stop, the boy taking a bow with the same beam he'd begun with. Applause erupted throughout the bar's patrons and staff, numerous woops and cheers filling the atmosphere.

The way the boy became so heavily flushed and continuously thanked everyone caused Kaito to smirk, ice blue eyes remaining intriguingly fixated.

Len's gaze swept around and made to glance up at the lone clap resounding from the back. Another thank you was directed toward the male applauding him, but his speech faltered. The glance became a gaze. His cheeks reddened to rival beetroot.

Kaito laughed to himself at the gained reaction, but extended his hands and continued clapping, an indication for continuation.

A cleared throat and his gaze was torn, cheeks remaining coloured as he stuttered into the microphone once more. "I... Um... M-My next song is a little faster... I hope you enjoy it..."

Even as his fingers began to strike up a melody again, the blush remained upon Len's face. He could feel that piercing gaze of ice against his body.

---

"... You're Kaito."

Even after Len had finished his set, the blue-clad male had remained in his seat, nibbling at the soft blue ice lollies he'd ordered and watching him pack up. The heated stare had driven him crazy all night; despite the fact that in his heart, he was glad to be on its receiving end.

He gulped. "... I- I love your songs."

"As I do yours."

He loves my songs... The inner fan boy plaguing Len cried to be released, craving the chance to gush over the star before him. Oh, he wanted to kiss him and tell how his room struggled under all of his Kaito merchandise but...

"... Len, can I kiss you?"

The canary stopped. He... What did he say?

"I now this may be a little hasty but... I have been craving these-" The bluenette's thumb found confused, pouting lips and smiled, more in a reassuring mannerism than seduction. " - all night."

He should hesitate. The keytar player knew he should hesitate, but he couldn't. Immediately, his arms made a path to the chest before him, gripping the iconic scarf's material and standing on his toes.

Used or not - He'd been craving this his entire life. He wouldn't allow it to creep away now.
