Guess what, everyone?! Two of the discus spawned last night!!!! If the extra exclaimation points do not indicate it, I am ecstatic. Frankly, I'm not sure exactly how they justify being on the verge of death and then spawning three weeks later, but I'm not one to question the insanity of scaly beings at this point. No, they're the ones that didn't get ht quite as hard - to mother's right eye is a little messed up, but she can still see well. Only one fish, Shirayuki, is truly blind - several of the others show limited depth perception and such, so in that sense they're semi-blind.

Eggs are still there, too :) Only a few have proven infertile, the rest might hatch as early as tomorrow if I'm lucky (and if the discus egg haching cycle is roughly the same as it is with angels; I'm not positive it it). But thanks ^^ I'll convey your well-wishes to the parents-to-be as well. Not that they speak English. They speak Discus :P :P But my fluency in that is limited, sadly.

You can uncross your fingers - eggs disappeared. But that's okay, really, they're still learning. Plenty of time for them to hatch new babies.

The problem with me speaking Discus fluently is that they vocalize on a frequency below the range of human hearing, and they have fins. They communicate via a range of low-frequency noises and a body-sign language using their fins. A few motions I can imitate, and they can read human facial expression, but beyond that, the language barrier is too great :P XD XD
