How? (Ranting Within, Read at own risk!)

How can so-called Christians preach tolerance, but at the same time be so intolerant and narrow-minded towards other human beings? Of course, not all Christians are like this, but I've dealt with so many who think that it is their business to judge me for choices that I make with my life, without even considering WHY I don't believe in god or go ( Read more... )

I'm sorry this woman made you feel this way. As someone who is a professing Christian I have to tell you that I am offended by the way she treated you. Not only is it completely opposed to what I believe, it is certainly NOT the way her professed Lord & Savior Jesus Christ would act.

I apologize... not because I did anything, but because someone who believes some version of what I believe hurt you and offended you. I hope to never do that to someone... and strive to avoid that type of situation.

With love & respect,
Emmie

*hugs* Thank you so much for your input, Emmie. When I first wrote this entry, I was upset and worried that it might offend you or hurt your feelings, so I'm glad that you took the time to reply. That's why I really stressed the fact that I KNOW there are good Christians, like yourself, who do treat people with respect; I know that you would NEVER call Wicca or Paganism "black magic" just for the sheer fact that you don't follow it ( ... )

I have to admit, when I first heard about Wicca, I thought it was "black magic". It was for no other reason than the things I had heard of it. At the time, Paganism was so unknown or talked about. Now, a great majority of my friends are some form of Pagan and my sister is even Wiccan ( ... )

It sounds like there are *some* "Christians" (not sure if you could call them Christians at this point, heh) who decided they want to twist everything that's in the Bible... Form their own type of religion. The religion where everybody is going to hell, except for said person in question. *shrug*

(I consider myself agnostic, so I'm indifferent to religion - for myself - but I'm cool with others' religion, as long as they're not being dumb about it, like that lady.)

I'm not sure what you could do. Being I'm deaf and would have to have someone sign for me to tell me what is going on, i'd probably give her the universal swear word gesture, the finger. Heh.

Reading this makes me think more and more about people and religion. More on the people than the religion itself. It's the people that are horrid, perhaps not the religion and by the sounds of it, this women is just plain disturbing. She was totally wrong and should have kept her opinions to herself.
