Any idea who that "he" is supposed to be?

I only wish. The going theory seems to be that this 'key' is somebody in the asylum that they're hiding in plain sight. Honestly, I don't know what to make of any of it.

Well, whoever he is, if he's also the guardian of this "gate" thing, I can't imagine he'll be easy to find. If something's worth guarding, you don't have just anyone do the job.
