Ever since Rodney had shown up near the beginning of the month, Carson had felt a bit out of sorts. But he supposed it was to be expected, after finding out that if he'd never been mysteriously taken away to the island, that he'd be dead by now because of an exploding tumor ( Read more... )

The first thing Rodney did on arrival at the river was slather some more of a combined lotion made from SPF 30 and anti-mosquito spray onto his skin. It wasn't doing much good so far, at least where the mosquitoes were concerned, but hopefully it would keep the skin cancer from becoming too serious. And by too serious he meant fatal. He could deal with having a chunk of skin removed, preferably from one of his more flabby areas, but death was just out of the question. He felt bad and all where Carson was concerned, but that was just taking it a bit too far.

"So. We just...sit here and wait for the fish to bite?" he asked, making a face at the assembled team. He was kind of sad Ronon wasn't there, but then again, if he was there he wouldn't have gone on this fishing trip anyway.

"That is the purpose of fishing Rodney," she responded, looking around the group. "I believe the waiting period is supposed to be part of what makes the catch so enjoyable."

Teyla had watched Rodney reapply the lotion he had just applied before leaving New Atlantis with amused curiosity, honestly glad that as much as many things changed, he had not. Not in any way that mattered, in her opinion. He was still as neurotic as he had ever been. Perhaps moreso. She would discuss it with the others later.

John just barely concealed a snort from his spot a few feet down the bank. "Enjoyable's one way of putting it," he chimed in as he watched the golf ball he just hit sail across the river and over the treetops, mentally marking where it fell. He'd have to go on another ball hunt later on in the day, but he was enjoying it right now.

Especially since he wasn't actually fishing.

At least it wasn't golf. Carson couldn't imagine a more boring way to spend an afternoon. Though Carson and Colonel Sheppard had gotten into that argument more times than Carson cared to count, and he wasn't about to start it up again.

"Yes, that's the idea, Rodney," Carson replied, tugging a bit on his line, "Don't tell me you've never been fishing before."
