I just read a blog that pointed out that while we often say that breastfeeding is free, it's not. It costs the mothers time and labor. And so saying that its the free choice, or that its the cheaper choice, is just another way of devaluing women's work.

I hadn't heard that before, and thought it was a really interesting point.

It's not exactly free because there is an opportunity cost involved in breastfeeding... but weigh that against the cost of formula, the time it takes to prepare, lugging it around with you everywhere for when its needed, and the fact that its not as good for your baby so your kid suffers a bit... I don't know, it seems like a much better way to go.

Cheap and convenient! Plus its one less thing for the diaper bag... and my boobs will be gigantic! That will be fun for a while :D

Plus lord knows you don't want to fix a bottle in the middle of the night. I'd much rather just throw my boob at the little sucker.
