It was probably the most relaxing New Year's that Ryou had ever had. He lay on the unseasonably warm beach, hair spilling down his back, lazing by the fire as Saeki combed his hair.

"Are you sure it's a tradition to brush each other's hair on New Year's eve?" Ryou said, frowning, but his heart wasn't in it. It felt nice to be petted, more or less. Kind of like his inner primate was getting the grooming he deserved.

"Course it is," Saeki answered easily, fingers moving below Ryou's hair to stroke his back. Just then, far away in town, the temple bells rang.

"Hey, midnight," Saeki grinned, and leaned down to kiss Ryou's shoulder.

"-- Senpai, did you just?" Ryou sat up and half-turned, eyes wide.

"Not yet, I haven't," Saeki chuckled, and leaned to kiss Ryou on the lips.

Ohtori gripped Shishido by the shoulders and spun him around, and for a long moment they were eye to eye, each daring the other to move. It was New Year's, and the party at Atobe's house was raging below them. Shishido could hear a drunken Oshitari singing old fishing songs from his home town, and Atobe yelling at him to stop spoiling the Mozart.

Then, Ohtori's lips were on his, and the air between them felt so sizzling hot that every thought in his head drained out.

At the end of the kiss they were both panting, Shishido's hands fisted around Ohtori's collar.

"Fuck," he breathed, dazed.

"More," Ohtori said, and then Shishido's back was pinned to the wall.

Aimlessly kicking a stone, Sengoku let out another long sigh, sticking his hands in his pockets. The whole point of celebrations was to have a cute little girlfriend to spend it with. He snuck a peek at his watch. Just 3 minutes to midnight, but 3 minutes nonetheless!

"Come on," he prayed, rubbing the little lucky charm he had in his pocket. 2 minutes. He prayed harder. 1 minute left-- and lo and behold, wasn't that Tachibana's little sister walking past just there?

"LUCKY!" Sengoku cried and bounced over to plant a big wet kiss on her cute rosebud lips just as the hour struck twelve.

Perhaps not so lucky, he decided 5 minutes later, as he lay on the pavement with a black eye.
