A backlog of 900 000 only means 900 000 who are, off the bat, no longer going to receive even our imitation of fair consideration. You as a person are not a better judge of applicants than the system is. Re-weighting things to favour certain industries (the tune you keep playing) will not magically make that system faster. Yeah... I suggest developing skills relevant to oil sands extraction... because the only other category of worker they've mentioned giving priority to is medical workers and the professional associations regulating medical practice in Canada haven't agreed to jack.

... THAT might have been a good problem to fix. To paraphrase one of the candidates on House: "According to the state of New Jersey, my medical school suffered from not being in New Jersey."

Or I suppose the more positive way of looking at it is if you applied, there's 900 000 people they have to reject before they get to you now... (and the line just started moving slower.)

I hate nation states.

Movement *should* be free.

Oh, they'll come steal our health care and welfare? Boo hoo. Why does someone who had the good fortune to have his mother's vagina positioned on the right side of the Canadian border get a free pass, but not the person from Eritrea?
