Argh! :-( Sorry to hear that bud. Those Universities do seem to think they're a machine that can't stop for anyone, but they would do well to remember that people like you are the backbone that keeps it moving.
I finished a year late for my first degree, and half a year late for my second degree, so I'm no stranger to crossing the finishing line after a delay. I tell you what though, it feels like more of a triumph when you do complete it. It takes more grit and determination to struggle through and finish the job than it does to cruise through without ever really realising what's going on.
