ABOUT THE SHIP.
"Please take the blue lift to the passenger quarters."

CLASS: TITAN
PURPOSE: COLONIZATION
SIGNIFICANT TECH: JUMP DRIVE
AGE: 20+
DATA LOGS: CLASSIFIED

PHYSICAL ARRANGEMENT.

There are close to 300 decks on this ship, housing well over 300,000 individual rooms. Passenger quarters are decks 250-300, along with the cargo bay and various shuttle bays. The Engineering complex (+engines and the assorted FTL tech) is comprised of 18 decks, whereas the oxygen garden utilizes four.

ARCHITECTURE & ATMOSPHERE.

The Tranquility is like a enormous Lovecraftian cathedral. Pillared rooms, labyrinthine corridors, flying buttresses, vast, open spaces-it's built to hold masses and masses of people, but without the bustle of a fully staffed and loaded ship, the rooms feel desolate, inhospitable. The ship's interior is comprised mostly of sharp angles and dark, slick edges; there isn't anything that looks particularly comfortable, save the living quarters, which have been tailored specifically to the average human's needs. Without its immense original population, the Tranquility almost seems to live up to its name - only there's no escaping that twisting sense of crushing loneliness and paranoia; that something isn't right, and hasn't been for a while.

It's probably best to stay where people can see you.

LOST?

... Or you could take a look around.

The Tranquility is easily as large as (if not larger than) a city, so it's not difficult to lose track of where you've been or how you got there. Luckily, unspecified or classified areas that have been sealed off for your own safety can be avoided simply by a.) following the captain's strict directions and b.) adhering to all guideposts and convenient detour notices located in the ship's corridors. Your comms device will alert you if you stumble upon a hazard. If this happens, or if you get lost, feel free to contact an NPC through your comms device; someone will come and escort you back to the safely habitable areas.

An official map of the ship is neither provided nor accessible. It must have been lost somehow... or was there ever one at all? Characters may feel free to create one of their own, but the chances of it being even remotely close to accurate is very slim indeed.

In addition to the medbay (or character starting point), characters will be able to discover and gain entry to the following:

CREW'S QUARTERSWhere the crew of the ship live and sleep. The crew quarters are considerably smaller than the passenger accommodations, although crew members are allowed a room to themselves. Accommodations are rather spartan, but at least they're clean, relatively bright, and, most importantly, private. The quarters also include five kitchens and two lounges.
THE BRIDGE

Where most command and navigational decisions are made. Passengers are heavily discouraged from visiting, although a quick trip to the bridge is often the fastest way to get in touch with Captain Ward.
PASSENGER'S QUARTERS

Comprising a considerable portion of the ship, these are the residential decks and complexes. There are several kitchens and common areas on each deck, in addition to luxury appliances such as holodecks, swimming pools, gardens, and media libraries.
THE CARGO / SHUTTLE BAY

Storage space and main shuttle docking. Although there is room provided for thousands of shuttles to dock, only a few spaces are actually occupied by shuttles-and even fewer of those shuttles are in working order.
MEDICAL BAY

The in-ship hospital. Although the ship currently seems to lack a chief medical officer-or a medical staff of any kind-the automated systems in the medbay itself are perfectly capable of taking care of basic medical emergencies without human assistance. It is recommended, however, that passengers avoid putting themselves at risk for physical harm while the Tranquility is operated by a skeleton crew.

GRAVITY COUCHES

Tucked into a corner of the medbay are the gravity couches, which protect crew members from the immense G-forces generated by the jump drive. Gravity couches are essentially large pods full of clear blue liquid; crew members are put into stasis while inside the couches in order to prevent accidents while the jump drive is engaged. This is where characters wake up for the first time aboard the ship.

LOCKERSLockers are also located inside the medical bay, inside an alcove just off the main room. These lockers are neatly labeled with passengers' numbers, and contain both some small items of sentimental value to the passengers as well as a ship's uniform sized to fit each passenger exactly. It's... best not to think about how that happened.

OXYGEN GARDEN

The oxygen gardens, in addition to the the mechanical CO2 scrubbers, provide the ship with oxygen; judging by the contents of the first level, the gardens were also originally intended to provide part of the ship's food supplies. Although the remaining three levels of the garden are lush jungle, the only animals to be found inside are insects.
JUMP DRIVE / PRIMARY ENGINESThe main propulsion system for the Tranquility. Chief Engineer Resnik will insist that passengers stay as far away from the engine systems as possible, as much of the machinery in and around the jump drive is extremely delicate and easily disrupted.
ENGINEERING COMPLEX

Chief Engineer Resnik would also prefer that the new passengers stay out of the back half of the ship entirely, but she's reluctantly allowed visitors into the Engineering Complex-provided they keep their hands to themselves. However, the Engineering Complex itself is massive, containing everything needed to keep a city-sized ship running smoothly, and it's impossible for her to keep an eye on everything at once. Hey, maybe you should try pushing that button over there.
AUXILIARY THRUSTERSDue to the massive amounts of power needed to operate the primary engines, the Tranquility normally relies on its auxiliary engines for propulsion. These a set of four conventional ion engines, customarily used to fly cargo ships or heavy cruisers. It's not going to win any speed records for its journey towards Ataraxia, but at least it's not dead in the water.

TRAVERSING THE SHIP.

Since the ship is so colossal, realistically walking to and from locations would take close to a couple of hours. Instead, there are both horizontally and vertically oriented lifts that can take you from one place to another in a matter of minutes. Travelling from one end of the ship to another-for example, from the bridge all the way to Engineering-will take close to thirty minutes, whereas a taking a lift up several hundred decks-from, let's say, the crew's quarters to the passenger's quarters-will take only about ten or fifteen. It is possible to reach each deck and location on foot, but not recommended. For your own safety, you understand.
