Texas Monthly just posted its list of the 50 Best barbecue restaurants in Texas. I'm a fan of BBQ and dining out, but I've only been to 6 of these. I hope to visit a few more soon.

Well, I love BBQ but I have to admit I haven't eaten at any of the places on this list.

Well, they left of Kirby's in Mexia and Joe's in Alvin, so you can't put much faith in the list.

living in Austin and going to school in San Marcos I will admit the best bbq in Texas in Lockhart. Pick one of the 3, it doesnt really matter. Taylor cafe is next in line. I have never understood the fuss over Muellers, it either tastes like pepper or has no taste at all, the sauce is not good and the ribs are always undercooked. But probably the most overlooked place in the state is Kirbys in Mexia. I eat there with my grandfather every time I get back north for a weekend. Had the pleasure of eating there this past Saturday. The place is always crowded and there are reasons why .. this is the closest to "Hill Country" bbq that they can get in North Texas. There is no comparison.
