Hey all,
I hope all is well. I'm here, basically to vent and tell you how my life has been since the holidays.
January was amazing. London was so much fun. Their tube system puts any subway system to shame, truly. The people are so nice, so polite, that it amazed me. They answered, "Cheers!" to everything. (Instead of Thank You or You're Welcome, for example.) We saw "We Will Rock You," the show based on the music of Queen, and that was awesome. I really hope they bring it to the States because it was a real treat for anyone who knows ANY pop music. We spent a weekend in Paris, had about 1 whole day to see EVERYTHING; we did it in 12 hours. (And my feet hated me for several days after that.) It didn't rain in Paris, like it was supposed to, but we got plenty of rain in London. It wasn't cold, though; it didn't get cold until the last couple of days we were there. The only annoyance was that the churches in England liked to charge a fee to get in; now, 8.50 isn't much to someone from the UK but 8.50 pounds is worth more than $17. We were living on fastfood in London but went all out in France. (I had duck for lunch one day!)
I'm missing home, since I haven't been there for about a month. I've booked (another) flight for President's Day weekend, since we get two days off and I'm done with classes at 1:15 on Fridays.
The classes. Oh goodness. I've already had so much reading to do. I'm taking 3 Lit classes (one British, two American-- one is for an honors credit) and a Creative Writing class (Prose writing -- also for Honors Credit). I'm finishing my science requirement with an overview of Computer Science (shoot me in the head), and I'm taking a Film study class (where we're watching SINGING IN THE RAIN, RAGING BULL, AMERICAN BEAUTY, CITIZEN KANE and other great movies). Soon, I'm officially going to declare my double major (Creative Writing & Literature and Audio/Video/Film). And I'm sure I'm going crazy this semester.
I've started a Bruce and Selina fic that I want to be posted sometime before or around Valentine's Day. I like it a lot so far, but we'll see how it goes.
