You don't need...

You really don't need another person to make you happy. You should learn to be happy with yourself. A woman is going to see that you cannot be happy on your own and she's naturally going to flee because she doesn't want that responsibility. It is very draining on a person to have someone who depends on them for happiness.

Well, it is hardening to the soul, for unfortunately there ARE folks who make a living cruelly gutting the tender-hearted.
Every human -- every human who has ever loved a friend, lost a mate -- can feel this insecurity. It does no good to either dwell upon it, or to damn our human selves to think "we" are responsible for how people react. "WE" are responsible only for how "WE" react to our situations. A moment's lament is needed, ever so often, so our hearts are swept free of the ancient blades of wars lost. As the often quoted Lector says, the scars remind us what indeed in the past was, and is, *real*.
Sometimes, it's not always looking within that saves our souls. Sometimes, looking what is out there by the grace of creation is really what is needed to cure the raging ocean.
