VIA GRA GAUDEAMUS

This video has caused some controversy on the Nova Roma main list for being too provocative, and one of the magistrates even said that "strippers ARE whores" and referred to these women as strippers and therefore whores. I thought that was completely absurd.

A few things. Just cause they sing in Latin, does't make them under the purvue of Nova Roma... but even if they were, they arent' stripping! Does this Magistrate have similar problems with MTV (or the beach)? Perhaps he has never witnessed actual nudity and got confused???

The problem that the person in question had was that someone posted a link to this video to the Latin Sodalitas in which she is the Magistra.

but even if they were, they arent' stripping!

I agree. She claims they were stripping and she claims that stripping = whoredom. Of course I issued a statement to the contrary!

Does this Magistrate have similar problems with MTV (or the beach)? Perhaps he has never witnessed actual nudity and got confused???

Yes. She has serious problems with a lot of things. She is clearly a "1st Wave" feminist. I'm well into "3rd Wave" and beyond!

You know its funny, I thought the Magistrate in question might end up being a she (way to go me with being gender stereotypical in my replies). Still, wow I'm just wow. I mean they certainly didn't offend my sensibilities... :P

I don't see anything particularly whorish about the video.

Nor did I imagine someone in NR would object to something like that. Romans weren't exactly puritans, after all.
