Film thoughts - Guardians of the Galaxy
Under a cut because spoilers etc
I keep flip-flopping between thinking that I enjoyed it, and being very unsatisfied with the film.
The Good:
- GROOT! <3
- Rocket!
- Amazing soundtrack
- Whee colours
- I'm glad that silly, shiny sci-fi is a thing again
- Wonderful camp villains
- wtf Peter Serafinowicz?!
The Bad:
- I don't know if this is because the last Marvel film I saw was 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier', or because I'm a Vertigo girl and like my graphic novels and adaptations to be darker and more twisted, but I just felt that it wasn't a very satisfying story
- Ditto film-wise; whilst the colours were great and it was very pretty, it just felt a bit...childish, I think? I like my symbols and motifs
- Argh gendered insults. Lost track of the times Gamora was called 'bitch', 'wench', 'whore'...
- Wanted Nebula to have more...point. Like, at all.
- Are you fucking kidding me with that post-credit sequence?
- It wasn't an Avengers-verse film. A silly thing to not like it for, but *shrug*
