I tell people I have an acquaintance who understands Akkadian and Sumerian, programs computers, loves algebra, translates Jim Steinman songs in Sanskrit, writes the occasional excellent fanfic (about Achilles, natch!), plays the piano and in her free time makes important discoveries in comparative mythology. Well, that is very imaginative. I am planning on learning Sumerian, hopefully soon, but as to the piano, you may be thinking of a post a few years ago wherein I related my complete inability to learn the piano. I've had three friends try to teach me to play something really simple like "Mary Had a Little Lamb", and the universal reaction was, "You're so smart...how can you possibly be so dumb at this?" My musical incompetence is a special accomplishment unto itself.
