Yuletide 2008 Batch 1: Chaos, and Hope, and Love

Dec 31, 2008 06:09

I haven't had much time to read, and the reading I've done has been almost completely random. I've been deliberately avoiding reading any reclists before writing this up, though I'll be going back to those in January, I'm sure. There are several fandoms with many stories that I'm really excited about reading, but somehow haven't yet touched, and ( Read more... )

I haven't read them all yet, but had to drop in and say that Cell Mates was beautiful.

(I'm so not getting any more grants written today, am I?)

Hee! Glad to hear you enjoyed it! The voices really were spot-on, which is damned impressive, I thought.

(*grin* Well, it is NYE... or Day, by now.)

Thanks for the rec! I'm glad you enjoyed "Jack of Clubs", since it's basically the Breakfast Club story I've been wanting to write since joining Yuletide last year (Ironically, I had TBC last year, but the prompt was Andy/Brian, so I wrote "The Geek Doesn't Get The Girl". I think next year I'm not volunteering TBC just to mix it up).

You're so welcome! Thank you for writing it -- I was so excited to see such a fantastic Allison pov story. :)

I know what you mean about maybe planning for something different next year. This was only my second year, and the fandoms were certainly different, but both with a tendency toward fluff, and I ended up writing rather similar things for them. It was huge amounts of fun, but I'm tempted to stick to some fandoms leaning more toward the side of drama/angst next year...

Thanks for the rec! I wrote "Rosaline, At Rest", and I'm very glad that you enjoyed reading it. This is my first year participating, and I have to say it's been a positive experience. :)

Oh my gosh, thank you so much for the rec! I wrote Cell Mates. You've got to see Clerks 2, mate. There's actually a deleted scene on the 1st DVD where Silent Bob says to Jay "You're clearly a deeply repressed gay man". If you like the ship, you gotta check it out. Thanks again for reccing me.

*grin* It's in the netflix queue already, but maybe I'll nudge it up a bit. And you're welcome! You really did totally nail the voices, I was seriously impressed.
