live hockey = HAPPINESS

I feel super freaking lucky to have an AHL team so nearby. Went to see the Texas Stars host the Houston Aeros tonight and had a really really ridiculously good time, even though the Stars lost. Damn you Mikael Granlund! *shakes tiny fist* The kid had 2G & 2A tonight (to go with his 2A against the Stars last night in Houston) and looked ( Read more... )

Oh, we are loving our local AHL team. It's so great to be able to see cheap, live hockey! (Because Bruins tickets? Totally unaffordable.)

It really is, isn't it? :D (I can imagine. The first hockey game I ever went to was actually a Bruins game, but we were wayyyyy up in the cheapest seats, and they still weren't actually cheap, and it was years before this last Cup win for them. I would think they're even pricier now.)

Yeah, in the spring the cheap seats were about $200/pop. The better ones were about $350.

That sounds like so much fun! Your seats sound fantastic and I'm glad the crowd was into it!

Because what I really needed was yet another obscure prospect ship. I was already having a lot of thoughts about Nathan MacKinnon and Seth Jones because of the extensive article about them in The Hockey News, and I am hoping that more evidence of Jamie Oleksiak and Jack Campbell's bromance will surface now that they're both rookies with the Texas Stars this year.

*grabby hands* I totally want to hear about Nathan MacKinnon and Seth Jones, provided both parties are over the age of 18 because otherwise I just have to plug my ears and go alallllala I CAN'T HEAR YOU.

It was a really, really good time. Oh, I'd missed hockey so much ( ... )

... Seth Jones is totally over 18 and has been for nearly three weeks now? /o\ And Nathan MacKinnon's less than a year younger than him? /o\ /o\ /o\

Oh god I can't. I'm so sorry, but I can't, they're not even fetuses, they're zygotes, /o\ MAYBE TELL ME ABOUT THEM NEXT YEAR WHEN THEY'VE HAD A BIT TO COOK AND GET FULLY DONE?

*laugh* That is totally understandable. I think I read so much YA that I sort of just glide over the age thing from a storytelling perspective, or something like that.

It's so true, nothing really compares to seeing (and hearing!) hockey live. I enjoy watching it on television, too, but to really get someone into the game, I feel like taking them to a live game is definitely the way to go.

HEEEE, I see from a quick glance at your journal you're a UND fan. My affection for Toews gives you props for that, but the U of M taught me nearly all the math I know back when I was a kid growing up in the Twin Cities, so my college puck allegiance belongs to them forever, I'm afraid. Unless my undergrad institution somehow gets a hockey team at some point, but I really, really doubt that'll ever happen, so U of M it is!

I do think it's awesome that they both got drafted by the same team. I might have to start following the Panthers more if they actually end up playing in Florida together.
