that isn't a symbol of the evil eye
it's a protective symbolic eye
it's known as the eye of wisdom or eye of god
it is used as a masonic symbol
a version of it is on the USA one dollar bill
the most popular of the protective eye are the blue Greek ones
(they can be very pretty and decorative)

the use of a talisman to protect is almost universal
the world is a scary place
having power on your side feels good
probably the most popular christian one
is the St Christopher medal

evil is sometimes defined as the absence of good
the more we know of the complexity of human motives
and social conditions that seem to create "evil"
the harder it is to make a simple definition
except maybe absence
