EN PLEIN AIR IN WEXFORD

my Arts Council runs a Plein Air
no where as big as yours
but with a mini festival at the end to award prizes and hopefully sell

our is a colorful area - old buildings - waterfront - some fantastic very very old trees that make me itch to try to capture them
(trees are not easy)

the challenge of painting out doors is capturing the light - it keeps changing on you - by the end of my painting classes we were challenged to do it

you should paint for your own pleasure - just the joy of colors

the thing to remember are the words of my teacher - "We are not cameras They have invented those"
and he was a classicist, painted literally - no Picasso he
but we were to paint as we saw things - yes, we had to be more careful of our draughtsmanship - because he was

but you would not have to concern your self with "drawing it right"
painting is all about bulk and color - big /little - bright/dark
get a bit of paint and splash around
