Why do people fear death?
Is it because they do not know what the future has to offer?
Or is it because they are too attached to the present?

because they don't want to leave the ones they love
but my husband chose it as a gift to me

after you are dead - you are dead
the fear of the afterlife is only for those who believe in it
such a tiresome fantasy it can cause so much anxiety

I'm a bit late, but I think the fear of death is the fear of the unknown. It's not the equivalent of "what lies over the mountain" or "I wonder if there are people on the other side of the river". It's land that is truly unexplored but that requires everyone to step foot in it eventually. That mystery is nerve wracking for most people.
