Title: Acrobats and Freshmen
Fandom: Prince of Tennis
Characters: Kikumaru Eiji x Ryoma Echizen
Rating: PG-13
Theme Set: Beta
01. Walking
There wasn't even an expectation of having to be kissing and finding ways to prove their love, just walking side-by-side holding hands or the occasional brush of fingers was enough.
02. Waltz
Ryoma's life always had an unbroken rhythm, a life that had three separate beats that remained constant throughout the day, but when Eiji had come into his life that was no longer there.
03. Wishes
Eiji had dreams and wishes just as everyone else did, but one of his greatest desires had already been fulfilled when the freshman prodigy had gone with him on that first date.
04. Wonder
There was a certain thing that Eiji had always wondered about... and that was where did Ryoma ever get that hat?
05. Worry
It was hard for Ryoma not to worry about the acrobat as he always made daring saves that could’ve seriously hurt him, even though he had never fallen yet, the first time would probably be the worst.
06. Whimsy
Eiji had always been on the more eccentric side, but that hadn’t stopped Ryoma for falling for him anyway.
07. Waste/Wasteland
Had it not been for the dry conditions of the courts that time, Ryoma would’ve never noticed the small tear stains on the ground.
08. Whisky and rum
That night was still hard to recall even now, the only distinct thing that stands out in Eiji’s memory of that night was when he had found a stash of whiskey that had belonged to Ryoma’s father.
09. War
Even though Eiji and Ryoma loved each other off the courts, whenever they had a practice match between them, there was no love in that war.
010. Weddings
Ryoma wondered if he would ever have a wedding, the only thing he knew was that Eiji would be the one wearing the dress.
011. Birthday
Eiji didn’t know what to get for Ryoma’s birthday, he never mentioned anything that he really liked besides tennis and Ponta, and so the redhead had decided to buy him a whole box full of grape Ponta.
012. Blessing
Eiji couldn’t consider his relationship with Ryoma anything less than a blessing that he almost felt he didn’t deserve.
013. Bias
The two of them had never had to worry about their own biased opinion, until it came to the question of what flavor of Ponta to buy.
014. Burning
Ryoma had a burning passion for tennis, and so did Eiji, but above all else they had a burning passion for each other.
015. Breathing
The two of them tried to calm down, but they knew somebody would hear them from behind the lockers, and apparently their make-out session would include serious laps that day.
016. Breaking
It seemed as if every time Eiji had reached his limit or his breaking point, that Ryoma would be there for him, and silently continuing to cheer him on.
017. Belief
Ryoma’s belief in being dominant on the courts was well-founded, but in bed Eiji declared that as a whole different matter.
018. Balloon
Sometimes it amazed Echizen that his lover could be so amused, by such a simple thing as a helium filled piece bubble.
019. Balcony
Eiji had always wanted a room with a balcony on it, but he figured that he could live without it as long as he could be with Ryoma.
020. Bane
There had been many ups and downs to their relationship, but when Eiji had heard of Ryoma leaving to go to America, he wasn’t sure if his life could be more miserable.
021. Quiet
Ryoma was always associated as the quieter one and Eiji as the loudest, but the redhead knew things were usually different when they were behind closed doors.
022. Quirks
Ryoma knew there were plenty of quirks to Kikumaru Eiji, his personal favorites were how he'd constantly 'hoi' or 'nya'.
023. Question
"What are you doing?” Ryoma asked as he noticed Eiji trying to be secretive about something in the corner of the courts, but when the acrobat turned around he really wished he hadn’t asked.
024. Quarrel
Like every couple, they had their quarrels from time to time, but they always seemed apologize to each other with long make-out session.
025. Quitting
Eiji knew he’d never be able to stop loving Ryoma, in a way the freshman had become an addiction that would overwhelm him if he ever went without.
026. Jump
It seemed somewhat terrifying for Ryoma, almost like he was going to leap off a bridge and just trust that the water wouldn’t drown him, but he just had the feeling that it was worth it no matter what.
027. Jester
Eiji didn’t really realize how much the jester costume fit him, the redhead could consider himself the most entertaining one of the Seigaku team, but Ryoma knew he’d never realize it.
028. Jousting
After having to go through a bowling tournament, and a billiards tournament it didn’t surprise Ryoma at the fact that the next crazy tournament that Eiji had thought up happened to be jousting.
029. Jewel
Ryoma was almost like a jewel to Eiji, not in the superficial way but just the fact that the boy was so precious to him, and that he loved to show him off to everyone.
030. Just
“I had never even dreamed that I would ever get together with a guy... in fact it’s just the exact opposite of what I had always expected, but I’m a lot happier this way.”
031. Smirk
The one thing that had always made it so impossible for Eiji to resist Ryoma happened to be the thing that made most people hate him, and that was his cocky smirk.
032. Sorrow
There was a certain despair in Eiji’s voice and it made Ryoma wish to know what the acrobat wasn’t saying, but the freshman also knew it would be almost unfeasible to make Eiji tell him what was depressing him.
033. Stupidity
Some people may expect Ryoma to be horrible at tennis because of the fact that he’s a freshman, and Eiji knows that most of the time their stupidity is why they always underestimate him and get beaten.
034. Serenade
Ryoma wasn’t really sure one of Gackt’s songs could be considered a serenade, but he and Eiji knew that was probably the closest they would get to a real one.
035. Sarcasm
There always seemed to be something hidden underneath the sarcasm that Ryoma often resorted to using, and Eiji was determined to find out what it was.
036. Sordid
Eiji knew that even if some people called him obnoxious or a cheater that they were just trying to think up an excuse for why they lost, when the obvious truth was that Ryoma was just better.
037. Soliloquy
"I love you," Ryoma whispered to the empty air since he'd just blown his chance to tell Eiji again.
038. Sojourn
It was a believable excuse that Ryoma had actually made, Eiji's house was on the way to the street courts and he had found that this would be a good reason to have a brief 'chat' with Eiji.
039. Share
There was one secret that Eiji had decided to never tell his family, and that was of his love for Ryoma.
040. Solitary
Ryoma had always loved solitude and time to himself rather than company, but the kind of company that Eiji provided him was always welcome.
041. Nowhere
Ryoma had promised Eiji that he would never leave him, and yet the freshman prodigy was going away to America and nowhere to be found.
042. Neutral
Neither of them truly had a preference for who was on top or bottom, in that aspect both of them were neutral.
043. Nuance
There were always slight things that let Eiji know that Ryoma's apathetic attitude wasn't always what he was really feeling, such as the slight twitch his mouth would do when he would restrain a smile.
044. Near
Even though they were so far apart, Ryoma could always feel that Eiji's presence was near.
045. Natural
Ryoma didn't believe Eiji when he once again answered, that yes his hair color was natural.
046. Horizon
People always mentioned that they were frightened of the future and the things over the horizon, but Eiji knew that he had no fears of his future since he knew it would always be with Ryoma.
047. Valiant
Ryoma couldn't admit it out loud, but he always thought Eiji was brave for doing the kind of stunts he did.
048. Virtuous
There wasn't anything that Eiji had desired more than a simple 'I love you' from Ryoma, and he had never wanted anything more than that.
049. Victory
When Ryoma one his match, nobody could deny that Eiji was cheering the loudest along with Tomoka.
050. Defeat
Even though Ryoma had finally been defeated, Eiji realized that the freshman wasn’t upset about it, but it had actually made him a better tennis player in the end.
