Alex is a 17-year-old Caucasian male whose unique set of thinking and reasoning skills make his over-all intellectual functioning difficult to summarize by a single score on the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-III. Alex currently demonstrates a significant discrepancy between his ability to perform on task of verbal comprehension and perceptual reasoning. This discrepancy favors perceptual reasoning, and suggests that his skills in this area are better developed than those in the verbal areas. Alex's working memory and processing speed scores were in the Superior range. There was no support found to indicate problems with attention and concentration, indicating that ADHD is not likely of Alex's academic difficulties.
Alex's level of academic achievement based on the Wechsler Individual Achievement Test-II, ranged from Average to Superior. Alex performed as predicted on all Composite measures of achievement, also ruling out a learning disorder to account for academic problems.
The results of the MMPI-A do not indicate any clinically elevated areas that would suggest particular psychological diagnosis. However, there was evidence on this assessment of social anxiety and inhibition that may account for some of the difficulty that Alex experiences within the academic environment.
Exciting, no? I'm really hungry, so I'm going to get food and get some sleep.
