It's been pointed out that this has to piss off the Mets, because instead of draft picks from us, they just get a couple of scrub prospects from the Red Sox. So that's a nice bonus.

I think it's a good signing. It discourages Mike Gonzalez and Rafael Soriano from accepting arbitration, there are a couple of good closers coming up through the system, and it pisses off the Mets. We need some guys who can knock runs in, and this lets Frank Wren focus on that.
