Character name: Tula
Fandom: Young Justice
Timeline: After S1E8, Downtime
Age: Sixteen
~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths: As an Atlantean, Tula has numerous special abilities. For one, she has adapted to both high and low pressure areas. She is far more comfortable in places with pressure high enough to warrant head exploding, though. Furthermore, she is able to breath and speak underwater; a necessity among the Atlantean people.

Like fewer of her people, Tula is electrokinetic, as well as hydrokinetic. For those who aren't clear on these two powers, they are defined as the ability to manipulate electricity and water, respectively. While Tula cannot generate water, she can generate electricity from her arms. Her electrokinesis is strong enough to stun people, as well as push them back. Her hydrokinesis is somewhat stronger, though, and is far more versatile. She can use water to create tunnels, whirlpools and even small storms.

While she is nowhere near as fast as Kid Flash, Tula, in comparison to 'normal' people, is very quick on her feet. In water, she has incredible speed, and, although clumsier on land, still maintains impressive speeds. Her strength, too, while nothing compared to the likes of Superboy, is quite good for someone her age. She can punch out most people, and works hard to keep herself in fighting fit shape. Needless to say, it's paid off.

How would they use their abilities?: Strictly for good. Tula has been trained since she was young to work for the good of those around her. Besides, she's naturally inclined to help others, and views it wrong to harm innocents.

Appearance: On behalf of Kaldur and Garth, allow me to say, here and now: Tula is a h-h-hottie. With long, lean limbs, adorably freckled, tanned skin and hips that don't lie, it's hard to ignore Tula when she walks or swims on by. Her form is muscled from years of intense training, but still maintains a soft, feminine touch where it all counts. While she does have a very nice pair of gills, Tula often covers them up with a simple blue choker - more out of habit than any kind of shame. Unlike most girls in Atlantis, Tula opts to keep her hair short, letting the bangs grow out while keeping the back trimmed. Her hair colour, too, is quite unique, due it's shade of auburn. Her eyes are a stunningly bright blue, and go nicely with Garth's fabulous purple ones. Tula also has one Hell of a pair of lips. They're plump enough to be absolutely unmissable, but not so big they appear out of place. In all, Tula is quite stunning, holding an exotic beauty you'd expect to see on a topical island inhabitant.

Background/Personality: Tula's origins are something of a mystery to the world. While she's extremely close to her Queen, there's no proof that, like her comicbook double, she's the adopted daughter of the royal family. For the sake of backstory, though, in headcanon Tula's parents - both of which were full-blooded Atlanteans - died when she was very young. The cause of death is unknown; all that's for certain is that, one day, they simply stopped breathing. Now, with no family left to go to, then baby Tula was taken into the care of Queen Mera, the wife of Aquaman. Nobody's quite sure why, exactly, she offered to care for the child, but Tula has been grateful her entire life - although does not refer to Mera as 'Mother' out of respect. It doesn't mean she doesn't love her adoptive Mother, she simply doesn't wish to make the soon to be born heir feel uncomfortable when he grows up.

It's unknown for how long, exactly, Tula has been friends with Garth and Kaldur. One could easily assume since childhood, judging by the strength of their bond. Regardless, the relationships she's formed with the two boys over the years have helped shape her into the girl she is today.

Before Kaldur left to become Aqualad, he, Garth and Tula were inseparable, the three of them sticking together through thick and thin; growing and learning, as well. Although, while Tula was an exceptional student at the Conservatory of Sorcery, Garth was eventually selected to be their King, Aquaman's, protege. Tula, as one would expect, was extremely proud of her friend, openly congratulating him and cheering him on, albeit pretending she didn't care about the fact that all of Aquaman's proteges eventually travelled to the surface. Garth gave up the title, though, and passed it over to Kaldur. Why? Because, Tula, in all her tomboy-ish obliviousness, had yet to actually realise he was crazy about her. It took her a while to figure out, but after Kaldur left and Garth snatched her away, she realised why he'd given up the opportunity of a lifetime. At first, Tula was furious; not with Garth, but with herself, believing she was holding him back from his true potential. During the same time, she was trying to ignore the blistering loneliness Kaldur's leaving caused, and opted to focus on her studies in an attempt to block it out. So, once she calmed down and came to the conclusion that what was done was done, and that Garth was mature enough to make his own choices, she and said ex-protege hooked up.

This was all fine and dandy, aside from the fact that Tula's ignorance to others affections got her into more trouble. When Kaldur returned to Atlantis, Tula thought everything between them was still, like it always was (in her mind) a glorious friendship of friendship-i-ness and rainbows. Upon seeing him, she instantly ditched her sparr with Garth (which she was winning, by the way) in order to hug Kaldur, her somewhat excitable side kicking in. She quickly calmed down, though, and discussed the changes in Atlantis since he had left - all the changes except one, which she intended to tell him in private. Later, she was invited to dinner with Aquaman and Queen Mera by Kaldur, on offer which Tula was more than happy to accept. The entire affair was somewhat awkward, with Tula concerned over how, exactly, she was going to tell Kaldur that in his absence, she and Garth had passed the friendship boundaries therefor breaking the sacred bro code.

After the dinner, Tula was quick to take Kaldur outside, hoping things would be easier if she moved quicker. The two interrupted each other, the first time, to which Tula apologised and offered to allow Kaldur to speak first. When his big piece of news involved his long-time love for her, Tula was deflated. Not only was she breaking the bro code, she was going to reject one of her best friends. The entire situation was awkward, rushed, and hurt Tula more than she'd care to admit. While she loved Garth, breaking Kaldur's heart was something she never hoped to do. Instead, she, futilely, wanted everything to remain the way they were when the three were young: innocent, carefree, and simply.

Once she finished rejecting poor Kaldur, Tula notice that the city was being attacked, and leapt to it's defence. Along side her King, Queen, Garth and Kaldur, she fought to protect both the citizens and the homes, taking down numerous members of Black Manta (the epically bad baddie who's messing with Atlantis)'s gang. When Garth was shot at, Tula selflessly took the bullet (metaphorically speaking; it was nothing more than one of those taser guns) for him, knocking her unconscious. Her protectiveness over her friends shines through in the fight; she stops numerous thugs from going for her friends and adoptive parents. The taking of the electric shock, too, shows that she'll either kill you, or get herself killed, before she allows someone she cares about to be harmed.

When Tula woke up, the battle was over, thanks to Kaldur's epicness. While she still felt guilty over having to refuse his affections, the two were able to say goodbye on good terms, both of them sharing a final hug before Kaldur's departure back to the surface.

Have you read up on how the game works?: Well, I've learned that Tula's going to have to adjust to working the Flaming Ferret system. She'll also have to go on missions or get another job - stealing is simply out of the question for a representative of Atlantis.

1st person sample: H-hello?

[There's a strange web-like object covering the screen. The voice, though, is distinctly feminine and strong; the stutter sounding less like a sign of fear, and more like one of confusion. Eventually, the web is removed, revealing a strangely webbed hand. The owner of said hand is a stunning redhead, her bright blue eyes narrowed in curiosity. Ever so slowly, the device is turned in a full 360, quiet hums echoing through the room. Clearly, someone's never seen technology like this.]

Forgive me, but if someone could direct me to a swimming pool, I would truly be grateful.

[The longer the girl speaks, the darker her already tanned cheeks get. Her breathing turns to slow, shallow pants, and the longer one looks at her, the more obvious it is that she's struggling to breath - as well as quite dehydrated. Nevertheless, she tries to pass it all off with a calm, serene smile.]

That- That is-

[And down she goes. The device tumbles after her, thumping down onto the carpeted floor, the camera still focusing on the unconscious brunette vainly trying to breathe. If nothing else, the girl is a fighter; even when blacked out, her lungs are fighting for precious oxygen.]

3rd person sample: While Tula certainly never thought Kaldur was a liar, she had to admit, she didn't believe breathing only oxygen would be that difficult. Of course, the minute she found herself on a strange, unfamiliar vessel, she noticed the change in her breathing. The air was thick and heavy; each breath felt like trying to suck in mud. Her throat flickered open and closed in an attempted to force the awful weighted air out. In the end, Tula's lungs won out, and forced her to continue breathing in. It was incredible how different the simple act of breathing felt on the surface in comparison to the sea. Down below, the 'air' was clean, light. She could breathe without even thinking about it. But, on land - or wherever she was - each breath was forced by the simply will to survive long enough to find someone.

It took several tries, what with the sudden weight she felt in her entire body; pushing her down and making it painfully difficult to lift her legs, to push herself out of bed. The first foot that found the floor felt solid; secure. However, when Tula willed herself to stand, her ankle gave out, sending her crashing to the ground. For many moments, she simply lay there, trying- and failing - to ignore the pain in her ankle. However, she quickly reminded herself that, as an Atlantean, it was her duty to carry on. After all, if Kaldur could do it, she could, too.

Steadily, Tula pushed herself up. First, to her knees, then, with the help provided to her by gripping the mattress and pulling, easing herself to her feet. Taking a shallow, struggling breath, she stepped forward, fighting the weight in her legs and forcing herself to continue. One step down. She tried again, with her other leg, finding the heaviness easier to deal with with each movement. Though it took much longer than it would if she was back under the sea, Tula managed to get to the door, unlock it, and step into the hall. All without fainting once.

Questions?: Do you want it with whipped cream on it?
Did you put your characters name and fandom in the subject: LOLNOPE - I mean, yes.
