Start: Marco Andretti and Mario Moraes crash in the short chute. That was SO Marco's fault. He shouldn't have been anywhere near that close to the wall.
Lap 21: Ryan Hunter-Reay into the wall coming out of Turn 4, ended up in the entrance to Pit Lane. Says Foyt IV slowed suddenly in front of him, but the replay looks like he just lost it somehow. Hard to call.
Pitstops: Briscoe got one up on Castro-Neves. Good.
Lap 52: Robert Doornbos tapped the wall, may be out. Briscoe passed Franchitti for the lead.
Lap 57: Graham Rahal into the wall in Turn 4, almost identical incident from last year. He's okay.
Pitstops: Briscoe retained the lead. Justin Wilson spun in the pits and is now somewhere at the back of the field. FUCK!
Lap 65: Briscoe just let about 10 cars by and went into the pits, he's lost all grip per the broadcast. Justin is recovering positions. Dixon takes the lead.
Lap 83: Davey Hamilton into the wall after letting some faster cars by. Just lost it going into the turn. Justin's back up to his starting position of 15th.
Pitstops: Dario Franchitti picked up the lead, just edging out his teammate, Scott Dixon.
Lap 99: Tony Kanaan hit the wall hard, conjecture is something broke on his car as he was cruising along just fine when all of the sudden the car jerked hard to the right. He's okay.
In the meantime, Justin has picked up 11th position and Scott Dixon picked up the lead on the restart after the last pit stop round. Tony had been running 4th.
Pitstops: Will Power has moved up two positions into 3rd, Danica Patrick has dropped four positions to 10th after misjudging her pitbox and stopping a few feet forward of the mark. Dixon retains the lead.
Lap 115: Dixon is still in the lead, Franchitti trailing, Power third. Meanwhile, Oriol Servia has dropped out with a fuel pressure problem and Justin has slipped back to 21st for no apparent reason.
Lap ???: Nelson Philippe brushed the wall, bringing out the yellow. His day is probably done, there's damage to the right rear.
Pitstops: Both Dario Franchitti and Vitor Meira had fueler issues, Vitor's resulted in the car being set on fire and doused, he's back out. Dixon leads, Castroneves to second, Power retains third.
Lap 144: Castroneves had picked up the lead after the last set of pitstops, he's leading Dixon with Power in third. Townsend Bell, of all people, is riding fifth. Justin's somewhere near 17th.
Lap 157: Power takes second.
Lap 161: Justin's out. Lost it and tapped the wall. *grumbles*
Pitstops: Castroneves retained the lead, but Power lost four spots, as did Dixon. However, Briscoe is back to second. Should be interesting to see where this finishes. Danica's in fourth.
Lap 174: Mega-crash between Raphael Matos and Vitor Meira. Matos is fine, Meira might be injured, they're being careful with him, though his visor is indeed up. Matos was trying to pass a little too closely on the outside.
Meanwhile, the broadcast has indicated that Briscoe only picked up spots during the last pitstop on account of a short-fill, by way of helping out Castroneves. However, this caution period suggests he might yet make it to the end with his existing fuel.
Bah, they brought in Briscoe to top off his fuel. Castroneves leads, followed by Dan Wheldon who has spent much of the day quietly climbing the field, and then Patrick. I'm offering 3:1 Odds on Wheldon taking out Castroneves on the restart and leaving Danica the win by default. Who's betting?
Lap 200: Helio Castroneves wins his second (third) Indy 500 race. Wheldon was in second, Patrick in third, Bell in fourth, and Will Power in fifth.
NOTE: None of the pitstops occurred under green, they all occurred under yellow following the on-course mishaps listed just before them.
