Title: Learning Curve
Rating: Gen
Character: Lorne
Warnings/Spoilers: No spoilers. Double drabble posted with permission.
A bored genius is a dangerous genius. Thirty-one. Lorne wasn’t sure when Zelenka became his personal genius and responsibility (it was sometime after the Aurora and before battling over baskets and cantaloupe-sized tubers), but, bored, Zelenka was just as dangerous as McKay.
Ok, he’d left Zelenka unattended while his team scouted the village. (After all, the last two villages had tried to keep the scientist.) He certainly hadn’t told Zelenka to use the wait to take the jumper apart. Nor had he asked for the xenophobic spear-wielding villagers that chased them back to the jumper three hours later.
They’d found Zelenka surrounded by wires, crystals, and a non-working jumper. Lorne barely got everyone inside and the rear hatch shut. And, yes, during the hour-and-a-half reassembly the jumper took a few small dents from spears and rocks. They weren’t that bad. It wasn’t Lorne’s fault. So why was he the one Sheppard lectured?
A bored genius is a dangerous genius. Fifty-seven. The words lined up nicely on the page (his third), but his hand was getting cramped. Four hundred forty-three to go. He wondered how many times Sheppard had written them before learning his lesson.
He figured Sheppard was still writing.
