Day 33, Late Morning, Conference Room - Attn Whoever

Nov 17, 2007 20:16

When John had gotten up (for a second time), he'd sent out search parties again, although considerably fewer of them. He didn't expect them to find anything, though, so after taping a notice to his office door, he set up shop in the gateroom's conference room. It had a large screen to watch security recordings on, and he could just as easily do ( Read more... )

Elizabeth walked into the conference room where John had set up a miniature command post. "Still no sign of Dr. Martins?" she asked, handing John a mug of hot coffee.

"Nope," John said, taking the coffee. "Thanks. On the bright side, we haven't found a body, either, so that's good news. Unless it means something either ate him or vaporized him, which would be bad news. Take your pick."

Elizabeth sighed into her own mug. "Unfortunately, I'm not sure we can rule out something eating or vaporizing people in this city. After all, we've already encountered life sucking black clouds, life sucking alien vampires, and a ten thousand year old version of myself from an alternate time line."

She sat down in a chair next to John, looking at the security feed. "Have you gotten a chance to look at Dr. Beckett's report on Dr. Beckham and Dr. Corrigan?"

"Yeah. I'm happy to hear they're going to be fine, but it's maddeningly vague about what could have caused the memory loss." John rolled his eyes. "I also did a search for 'memory loss' in the SGC files we've got. That narrowed down the possibilities to a couple hundred examples of alien technology, alien viruses, alien plants, alien parasites, and in one case alien underwear. Real helpful."

"Considering we're living in what is, essentially, an alien city, not so helpful."

She set her mug on the table. "If Dr. Beckett was vague about what caused the memory loss, I'm betting he can't find a reason he can conclusively point to. Which is frustrating, although I'm sure if we're frustrated, Dr. Corrigan and Dr. Beckham are even more so." She sighed. "Considering there is no cause we can find, and there is no trace of Dr. Martins, we need to consider the short and long term futures of Dr. Beckham and Dr. Corrigan." Shifting in her seat, Elizabeth avoided looking at John. "If we were in contact with Earth, sending them back to the SGC would be an option. It's not."
