It took a minute for Miles to emerge from sleep, and when he did, he found the sheets next to him cool. He frowned muzzily, trying to remember where he was, and when he noticed that there was a laptop on a desk nearby that had been left on. Later that morning, Bates came around to the linguists' space looking for Dr. Anderson. One of the other linguists pointed him towards the office door in the corner, and Bates made way over, knocked politely on the door, and waited for Anderson to acknowledge him.

"Enter," Miles said absent-mindedly, not looking up from the section of text he was translating. He idly wondered why St. Julian was knocking when he usually entered anyway, but he was paying more attention to whether the usage of what appeared to be 'cestra' in one of the sentences was as a noun or a verb.

"Good morning, Doctor Anderson," Marc said as he stepped into the office. He was carrying a tablet pc in the crook of his left arm, and that hand was still lightly bandaged. "I need to speak with you, if you've got a few minutes."

Miles' head snapped up at the unexpected voice, brown eyes widening for a moment. "Sergeant Bates," he said with a blink. Taking him in, noticing the bandage, he gestured vaguely to the only other chair in the office. "What do you need to speak with me about? And what happened to your hand?"

"It got singed a little when I had to pull the lieutenant out of that cloud. It's not bad." A thought occurring to him, Bates eyed Anderson as he sat down. "You did hear about the energy cloud thing, right?"
