Day 33, Beckham's Quarters/Infirmary. Sean, Carson, anyone else.

Dec 02, 2007 15:47

David had always been a light sleeper, so when he felt movement against him and a someone murmur something, he woke. For half a second confusion washed over him, then he blinked awake at the warmth and scent, soap and light fresh sweat and Sean, made him remember. Oh. Oh, yeah.

"No, Cris - we have to, he just, so stupid and then a flash and..." Sean blinked, looking at David. He frowned, trying to capture what had been so clear a second before. Jerking away, he sat up and rubbed his forehead. "I had it, David. I remembered. And now it's just...gone, again." He sighed, shaking his head. David placed a hand on his back and circled, the contact light but soothing. Shaking his head, he turned back to David. "Why? And what does it all mean? Why would they take our memories of Dr. Martins - not just some of them, but all?"

"I wish I knew," David replied. He sat up, shrugging off the covers, moving over so that he could sit beside Sean, their thighs touching. Sean's skin was warm against his. "But I don't. I didn't even recognize the medical files Carson showed me. The picture...maybe looked familiar, but more in the way that you'd see a yearbook photo years later of someone you vaguely knew--only a slight recognition. But nothing of any substance. There has to be a specific reason for this, but damned if I know." He gently bumped shoulders with Sean. "Not very helpful, I know."

Sean sighed, feeling his muscles bunch and tense despite the warmth of David beside him. The whole puzzle was frustrating, making him want to lash out, but he had no target, nothing he could fight, no solution in sight. "Right now, it's similar - Dr. Martins is familiar, a bit above a face in the crowd, but. A second ago..." The knowledge was gone, but he reached instead for the feelings, the overwhelming sense of guilt and pain and loss that had flashed through him. Even that was fading, slipping through his grasp and melting away. "I think...maybe there was something..." He stared at nothing, trying to sort through the tangle of emotion, trying to pull the threads of what he'd felt before they disappeared completely into the jumble of frustration and anger ( ... )

"Frustrating as hell," David agreed. He smoothed his hand up and down Sean's bare back, both for comfort and simply because he liked the feel of Sean's skin under his hand. "Still, you've come further than you expected--if you're dreaming, maybe it's starting to surface. Might not hurt to talk with either Carson or Dr. Heightmeyer, though Kate might be a better choice. She might have more ideas on how to coax out your memories, since they're obviously still there, but repressed."

They'd both seen Kate early on of course, but now something seemed to be jarring loose, at least in Sean's case. His own mind was still completely blank in regard to Martins. "Maybe some hypnotherapy. Might be worth a try."

Sean slumped forward, letting his head hang low enough that his chin brushed his chest. He exhaled, sighing a little with it, and then raised his head, leaning back into David's touch. "Probably right," he agreed. "And they'll probably want to run all the tests again, in order." He glanced at David out of the corner of his eye and smiled. "Too late to just push it under the rug?" he asked.
