John and Rodney stepped through the gate, unaccompanied by Teyla or Ford. Despite that absence they were casually strolling and chatting with each other. "Yeah, you have to learn to fight. Just remember, everyone else will be suffering as much as you! And all your minions will be even more cowed."

Rodney snorted. "Yeah, except for the fact that they'll be able to fight too!"

He didn't want to learn to fight. He wanted to learn how the Ancients worked. He wanted to learn how to make a ZPM. He wanted to learn new maths. Guns? Not so much.

John grinned maniacally. "It's fun, really gets the adrenaline going. But I wouldn't do that do you. Not until you were ready."

"I don't think I'll ever be ready." Rodney took a few steps away from John, wondering when someone would come question why they were back early and save him.
