"Sorry that I'm late," Carson said as he sat down in front of his friend. He was completely oblivious to the conversations going on around him so he thought nothing about saying, "Jack, you could have just gotten me up." Carson gave his friend a wink to show he wasn't mad. After all, it was his own fault that he was late.

Jack caught a movement out of the corner of his eye, someone turning to regard them when Carson sat down and made his comment. Jack contemplated staring back, but decided not to ruin his morning. The gossip had died down a bit, possibly due to the sermon the chaplain had delivered or just due to people moving on to other topics, but there was still talk.

Jack smiled at Carson. "It's okay. I killed time finishing up my mission report. I haven't grabbed food yet. You wanna?"

"Aye, I'm famished," Carson answered before standing up from the table. He was determined to have a great day and food along with good company was just the ticket.

"So, ATA trials today, right?" Jack asked as they headed for the line. "Anyone I should be looking forward to terrifying in flight training?"
