Okay so I'm on JM's blog and what do I see?  I see someone say that TH is "gone" and confirmed in an interview by Joe Flanigan...I don't know anything about this article.  I dont' know where it's posted.  I don't even know if it's an article.  Anyone here who knows....let me know.  I've asked my pals on the S4 thread.  If they get any news, I'll ( Read more... )

So I was given the link:

http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/index.php?category=0&id=41999

From what I read, it seems as though there's confirmation that Weir won't come back after her four eps. This means recurring. Since JF pretty much included TH in the same category as PM, and PM is basically out except for his two eps.

--What's good is that there will be some conflict between John and Carter. So that will be interesting to watch. I didn't think they'd do much of that mainly because he is in the military and they've established that John defers to military authority, even if he may not agree. Although he does go out on a limb. Well, we'll see. Making me more excited.

I think he meant gone in the sense that Weir is no longer a regular character. JM said they never planned to kill here, so I think that after her 4 episodes, that may be it for Torri.

Of course, JM keeps saying that there's always a chance for Weir to come back, I wouldn't put much stock in that. Sounds like there were some big creative difference that they couldn't settle.

You could be right. I'm unsure, I had the sense of finality in the terms. It doesn't give me a maybe. And after her 4 S4 eps, there's been no talk of her in more, despite people asking if she is. I get the feeling it's over.

It's true it's not been confirmed confirmed. But I don't see this as positive at all for those who support Weir or Weir herself. It seems I'm not alone. The Weir fans seem to have gone into mourning mode for her, since it seems that way. I'm far from shrill and ill-informed...but meh. This just doesn't seem like any sort of positive step.

I thought the creative difference was that the two things TPTB can't write are pacifist and female. And Weir, being both, got the fuzzy end of the lollipop. It's a shame they don't seem willing to try and fix things and go for the 'characters not working, lets get rid of them' option again.
I suppose I should really try and be more optimistic about S4 but they're not making it easy.
