001 ♕ [video]

[Video feed switches on, slightly too far zoomed in on Atobe's face (luckily he has no bad angles), perhaps as if he'd been using the screen as a mirror. It pans out and he sets it down to reveal a poised young man in a custom-tailored school uniform, tapping his foot and looking slightly put-out.]Good afternoon, strange inhabitants of...this place ( Read more... )

[ Hear Niou.

No, wait. Hear Sanada. Because that's totally Sanada you're hearing, Atobe. ]

If there were a way out of this place, I would help you find it, Atobe. [ His tone is ever so slightly dry. ]

Your tone is very impressive, but your dialog is telling. I think Sanada would die of a heart attack if he said so many words at once, especially to me. Who is this?

[Slightly amused pause.] Or am I supposed to guess? I bet I can get it in one.

[ He takes on a mildly annoyed tone, but Sanada-annoyed. ]

It's Sanada. Who else?

[ Niou can't give up so easily, Atobe, but your Insight is a hideous thing. ]

[Isn't it just? He's definitely entertained though.]

Let's see~ Someone who's close enough to Sanada to master his unique ability to glower vocally and either moronic or disrespectful enough to risk his wrath.

So... I'd say that makes you Rikkaidai D1's Niou-kun.

[Here, have some smug.] Next time you should choose to imitate someone I don't know so well.

[ And just like that, Sanada drops away, giving way to something just as deep, but infinitely smoother. Atobe may recognize the other half of Rikkaidai's D1. ]

My, Atobe-kun. 'Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.'

Ah, but 'the wisdom of the prudent is to give thought to their ways; the folly of fools is deception.'

[Atobe clucks his tongue, his smirk audible.]

You'd probably do a lot of good picking up habits from Yagyuu-kun.

And yet Sun Tzu believes that deception is the cornerstone of warfare. 'If you are far from the enemy, make him believe you are near.'

[ He clicks the video function on then, and Atobe is treated to Yagyuu (apparently), seated in an armchair in the Goldenrod Hotel. He smiles pleasantly. ]

Niou-kun has certainly done himself some good picking up habits from me; I can hardly argue that.

Clausewitz would argue that the only war is total war and would warn one to be suspicious of the enemy in all respects.

[Atobe smiles back, but his eyes are slightly narrowed. He taps his chin, not quite convinced.]

Or you from him, if that's really the case. I had the impression you were more mature, yourself, Yagyuu-kun. Or has Rikkai just become so undisciplined? I should make a note~.

[ He actually wags a finger at Atobe, somewhat chidingly. ] I'm surprised you'd give us so much credit as to believe we'd just become undisciplined.

As it were, I was merely testing the waters for Rikkai-Hyoutei relations. You'll agree that Yukimura-kun doesn't make the best ambassador when it comes to this particular treaty.
