Ok, so recently there have been a few discussions about the place on vegetarian diets and healthy food options. And with about a zillion of my friends following a well respected meat free or even vegan diet, I have been itching to raise the issue of Soy and it's supposed health benefits.

I guess my concern is the fact that a lot of people believe soy to be the answer to everything. When in fact the information I pointed to above is the same as in articles I read many many years ago. So it certainly doesn't make soy out to be a very good OR safe option to me at all. Add to this the fact that it is a popular GM crop and it becomes even less appealing.
The food industry is something which we expect to be relatively safe. If it an be sold, it's gotta be OK right? However the opposite is quite true, and the food industry is no better then the oil or pharmaceutical industry's or religion for that matter. Where there is money to be made there are ulterior motives. And if someone wants to push their point enough, they'll argue it to the ends of the earth.
Good to know that you guy aren't suffering any mood issues or moobs though!

What annoys me is that the vegan lifestyle is protrayed as a natural,healthy alternative when it is neither more natural or more healthy than the modern omnivourous diet.

Yes cave men ate meat once or twice a month .... thats what I was implying when I said eating what ever they found. Which is very similar to wild dogs which may be the reason we teamed up in the first place.
