Heh heh... That's probably because you haven't been brought up 45 minutes away from Fred Phelps and his bunch (of whom it was based on). I thought it was very scary, and very, very real (not to mention possible).
*shudders* I can't imagine being that close to Phelps-land. I had no problem with the thinking behind the film; I just thought the execution was poor. A friend at work told me that Kevin Smith went through a few different re-writes of the script, and I thought that showed. It was too disjointed. I didn't know who to root for, whose story I even gave a crap about (basically no one, because they all die anyway), etc. John Goodman was fantastic, though, of course. Probably the best thing about it.
