but I am disappointed they didn't do stupid stuff like putting on animal masks like [info]notafanboy said they do in Japan. Their dumb antics are half the reason I like them, but I guess they wanted to be a little more "professional-seeming" to their North American fans (and first time in Canada).

i don't think that's it at all. transporting the masks, which are probably quite fragile and require special handling, would've been an unnecessary expense and an additional risk, especially considering most western fans probably don't know they ever wore those on stage, anyway. considering they lost a lot of money on this tour because of the canceled shows, even 1000y saved is doubly important. in new york they were selling signed picks (four of them) for $30 out of what seemed like desperation. :\

Hmm, I didn't think of that, actually, but anyway it's a moot point, as ira pointed out that they actually only did it for the spring lives and dropped them afterwards. It was something I was excited to see when I heard about it, so I'm a little sad (but only a little) that I didn't get to.

Geez, I didn't know they were that strapped for cash in the end. That's worrisome. I hope they'll be able to come back. I wonder if any of the bands that come here turn a profit.
