Ditto to the entire post. ♥ It's hard to believe that the franchise is over! I enjoyed this second half a lot more than the first too, because of the neverending camping scenes. Snape's death scene was so gutwrenching, but I couldn't help but laugh at Snape barking, "Quickly, collect them [his tears]!" while his head is thrown back dramatically against the paned glass. Hermione looked lovely in the Epilogue but man, those sideburns on Harry were pretty laughable. Albus was cute. Did Neville grow up or what?!
it's nuts, this whole film franchise has taken, what, a decade?
this one was way less mopey than the first one, and had fewer loose ends. i guess this was the payoff film... kind of like how Return of the King was for LOTR (but they managed to leave a lot fewer plot threads hanging).
LOL, i thought it was kind of narmy, too, the "COLLECT MY TEARS!" that's such a bizarre dying wish and if I were Harry I'd be like... "uuhhh".
Hermione looked pretty similar to how she looked while a teenager. I thought they did a good job aging up Ginny. Harry looked... unshaven, that was about it lol. And why'd they have to put a gut on Ron? :(
You remember so many little points. XD I need to watch it again. From the very first movie, I thought Harry's parents' generation was way too old. They all looked to be about 40 when he was 1. I felt the same way about Snape possibly being Harry's dad.
Hermione was supposed to save Lavender. :( It'd be cute to have seen what happened with Neville (Matthew Lewis went all Clive Owen on us!) and Luna, but I know they end up with other people. What about that awkward hug between Voldemort and Draco? Haha.
I guess we'll always have the movie box set that's sure to be out by Christmas.
I want to watch it again too, but I'm not sure that I will since there's not too many people who'd probably want to go with me again.
I don't think I noticed how old they were in the first movie because there was such a large gap between Harry's age and theirs, it actually made it easier to overlook it, you know? But in this film, Harry and his parents were supposed to be like... 5 years apart in looks, and that was seriously not the case.
I think my head canon will be happily believing that Neville and Luna end up with each other rather than miscellaneous others!
omg, I loved that awkward hug, hahaha. Poor Draco, having to be hugged by the Dark Lord in front of everybody... and it looked like the first hug Voldemort had ever dished out in his life.
seconding everything xD I didn't notice about the Snape-might-be-Harry's-dad thing until my brother brought it up, but I can totally see it. What were they thinking?!
And the closest they got to mentioning Teddy before is that Tonks says something like "You'll never believe the news" or something along those lines in Part 1. You can't just throw crap like that in there, writers! But then I guess they're going on the assumption that 99% of the people who see the movies have read the books, and the other 1% are sitting next to someone who has. Which is a stupid way to go about making a movie ~_~
Anyway though, I was honestly a little glad Fred's death wasn't focused on, because I was crying enough as it was and I don't think I could have handled more. I also wasn't particularly moved by Snape's story in the book, but was blown away by it in the film.
My flatmate was actually complaining how much he didn't like the films because for him, a movie-only person who's never read the books, they seemed to make zero sense and Hermione always seems to pull a Deus Ex Machina out of nowhere at the end to save the day. Which is fair, given how many plot threads the films do leave hanging. I understand that they can't fit in everything, but it would've been nice to have a continuity editor to go, "Oh, well we never mentioned Teddy earlier, so let's not mention him now".
I actually had to squint to recognise that it was Fred who was dead. :( I wish he could've got a little more attention than that. But yeah, Snape's story was amazing in the film. I was kind of bluuughhh about it in the book because I thought it was overly sentimental drivel that invalidated the nobility of his choices (I'd rather he had spied for the Order out of a sense of justice than the love of a single woman-- that's so Hollywood mangsty/lady-stuffed-in-a-fridge syndrome). BUT the movie sold me on it... it was just so
